Subject Matter

In order to test the hypothesis, we will be discussing any number of things that pertain to the world of political data, analytics, statistics, technology, campaign practices and metrics. You can expect to see posts on here ranging from critiques of particular projects to long running series on how to build and test experiments. Don't be surprised to see long posts on the particular quirks of technology suites, either. A lot of what goes into this kind of work is sitting in front of spreadsheets, databases and datasets – and none of the software that does this is 100% bug free.

A good part of the test consists of making this knowledge public. We believe that one of the major causes of the perpetuation of bad data is that not enough people know who the players are, what they do, how they do it and how they measure it. We draw our inspiration from the Open Source movement: with enough eyes, all bugs are shallow. If more people knew what went into these kinds of projects, there would be less bad data.
